As you know, I will be walking 60 miles over 3 days, May 17-May 19, 20002 to raise money for breast cancer. My daughter-in-law, Amanda and I will walk along with over 3,000 other people from Fitchburg, MA to Boston. This is the story of my training and how I am preparing for this incredible journey. October 2001 10/07/01 Today is my first online journal entry but my training has already started. Walking twice a week, kickboxing once and weight-lifting once a week also are helping to get me ready for the 3-Day. 10/21/01 Walker orientation is this Thursday, 10/25. I think it will be a good way to get some information about the walk and everything that goes with it. We are going to start walking more miles at a time and I'm very excited about that. I'm a little nervous about being able to walk the 20 miles each day and I know how important training is. But I will do it! Wish me luck. 10/25/01
We went to our orientation meeting tonight. It was nice to finally meet
some of the other walkers! We had a good time and got lots of really
helpful information. 10/26/01 We walked 5 miles today. That makes 10 miles for the week plus our regular trips to the gym. Our workout schedule has been pretty easy to stick to. So far no real aches and pains. That's good!
